So many of us, myself included, avoid being in front of the camera for one reason or another. For me, if I am being honest, it's because I don't care for the way I look. And trying to pose with a million things running through my head about how this is going to look makes it that much worse. BUT I discovered if it's just a picture of me having fun and with a genuine smile, I don't mind it.

The whole point of a photoshoot has seemed to been lost in translation over time. 30 years ago when you grabbed your camera it was to capture something important or meaningful... You're kids graduation, a family reunion, your kid scoring the game winning goal. Back then it seems to me that we captured moments & memories in time. You can look at those old photos and almost feel like you were there again. The only photos that were taken where you were told to be still, look at the camera, and smile were at the DMV, for identification purposes only. Are you wanting a photoshoot of you, your family, or your kids just to ID them? Do you want to just know what you looked like at that time? Or do you want to look back and remember what that season of life was like?

All of this is why I am choosing to re-define the meaning of a photoshoot for me and my clients. Let's relax, have some fun, and enjoy a photoshoot. Capture some genuine happiness, emotion, and smiles. Make your annual photoshoot not something that you dread every year, but something that your whole family actually looks forward to. I myself feel socially awkward and am not ever comfortable when surrounded by people who are uncomfortable and would like to be anywhere else instead of here. So how about we skip that? You want to take some shots of whiskey before your session... Me too. Ya know what's even better.... Lets take pics of us all taking a shot together because its fun and lightens the mood! Your kid won't sit still? Great! hope you wore good shoes because lets dance, chase them around, play catch.

Photoshoots to me should take you back to that moment and make you smile! Lets bring hat back! Save the poses for the DMV! Im THAT LB Photography who isn't afraid of getting a little dirty, having a little fun, and being silly for the sake of memories! So if you are in the Bartlett, Memphis, Arlington, or Millington area and looking for something different then here I am!
